Less is more

Ladies and gentlemen,

It is my great honor to deliver a speech to all of you here. Today,

I am going to talk about the topic--less is more.

During the time when I was a high school student, one of my

classmates told me a lame joke. She said:” Hi! Wang wei, do you

know what will happen when a wolf meets a sheep on the road?”

Well, I really got confused and began to search for all the

possibilities, such as the wolf and the sheep became good friends and

they had a big dinner together or romantically, they fell in love with

each other and lived a happy life forever and all that. Before I could

give my answer, she had blurted out: “the wolf eats the sheep!”

What? That’s it? How simple it is! I was shocked and at the same

time I was enlightened. Maybe I took so many factors into

consideration; the best answer sometimes is the simplest one.

There is no need to make it too complicated, if you decorate one

thing too excessively, you will miss the true meaning of it and

ultimately loss it.

Here is a story about this. Once upon a time, there was a king

who had an excessive passion for the bow. One day, he got a famous

bow and he was so excited that he ordered his carpenter to carve

many elegant pictures on the bow. In that case, it looked more like a

handicraft than a bow. The king was extremely proud of it.

Nevertheless, when the bow fell by accident, it was broken suddenly.

What a pity! The poor king lost his favorite for he had carved the

bow too much.

Well, from the story above we may safely come to the conclusion that

things come easily at first, there is no need to bedeck it and make it

too complex. What we can do, as I see it, is to handle them properly,

through their less decorated appearance, to seek out the most

substantial things .Thus, we can make full use of them and beautify

our daily life.
